School Teachers With an LTC

Texas School teachers and district employees who have a license to carry are protected by state law. They can leave their loaded, concealed handgun and ammunition in their vehicle on the school parking lot while they are at work. The handgun must be concealed and the vehicle must be locked.

Texas law prevents the school district from imposing any duties, additional restrictions or reporting requirements. These protections only apply to teachers and district employees who have a Texas license to carry. These protections do not allow you to carry in the school building, only to leave your concealed handgun in your locked vehicle on the school parking lot.

To carry a concealed handgun inside a school building or classroom, the school district must allow it. School districts that allow staff to carry in the school usually have a training program in place.

School Teachers Without an LTC

School teachers and district employees without a license to carry must leave their handguns at home. Without an LTC it is against the law to have a handgun in your vehicle in a school parking lot.
